A bit of slashy silliness, written in honour of Arthur Wellesley's birthday.*g*

Fandom: Sharpe

Title: "A Day In May"
Rating: 12
Pairings: Sharpe/Wellington, Hogan, Lawford, and two OCs
Summary: Wellington missed his 40th birthday - he was fighting. Silliness abounds.
Author's Note: Somehow I think this sort of thing is harder to write when one has never been pished before in one’s life; much giggling will be had as a consequence.

Welcome to the Napoleonic Wars

It is May 1809. Armies are on the move to fight battles that will decide the fate of nations.

The Navy

Four years ago, the British fought and defeated the combined fleets of France and Spain, breaking the naval power of France. They won a glorious victory at the cost of their Admiral's life. Last year, the French army entered Spain and the Spanish joined the war against them.

French sea-power is broken, but her navy is not prepared to admit total defeat. A rogue frigate has been sighted off the Portuguese coast. Is this all that remains of the French navy – or is there something more sinister happening?

The Army

The French army has Europe under its sway and has remained undefeated... until last year when a small British force won two battles in Portugal. Victory was short-lived, however. Sir John Moore led a fighting retreat 400 miles across Spain to Corunna, where he turned to fight to gain time to embark Britain's last army. He died at the moment of victory knowing he'd won.

A new Army has arrived in Portugal and is marching north after the French, determined to avenge their General. In charge is Sir Arthur Wellesley, who took them to victory a year before. The French are not accustomed to defeat and the struggle will be a long one.

~ ~ ~

This is a world at war. From battles at sea to skirmishes on land to the secret fact-finding missions of spies of both sides, there is danger at every turn. There is friendship and camaraderie, too. But the clouds are gathering.

Where do your loyalties lie?

~ ~ ~

Join Show the Colours and change history

~ Show the Colours is a text-based RPG on a message-board forum, with a simple, yet fun, format. The board is easy to read and navigate.
~ Show the Colours is open to all role-players from beginners to intermediate.
~ We have been around for nearly two years now, so we are not a flash in the pan.
~ We have a small but friendly group of players, based in Europe and America.
~ Although we don't currently have any storylines taking place in England, there is potential for such threads, plots and storylines.~ We are particularly looking for canon Sharpe characters - we are in need of someone to take on the role of Sergeant Harper, but we also would like a Harris and a Cooper - and there are of course many other characters. If anyone is interested in spyhattery, we'd love to have Major Hogan as a player character.
~ We don't mind book-canon or film-canon characters.
~ We also accept original characters - the majority of our characters at the moment are original - and historical people.
~ A knowledge of the period is not essential, but you should be willing to learn.

Time:12:33 pm.
Title: In Debt
Author: Galadriel (caras_galadhon)
Pairing: Sharpe/Jane, Jane/Rossendale, Sharpe/Rossendale
Rating: PG-13
Archive: Lothlorien and sons_of_gondor.
Feedback: Always appreciated.
Disclaimer: I may march over the hills and far away alongside Richard Sharpe, but Bernard Cornwell, the lucky, lucky man, owns the rogue, not me.
Summary: Of all the things Sharpe was prepared for, he wasn't ready for this sort of betrayal.
Notes: Written for the seans_50 February Film Challenge using Sharpe's Revenge as inspiration. Also written for the "Rage" challenge prompt (#19) at sharpe_thinking and for kittylass, who is being extremely patient as I am being extremely slow in whipping the LotRPS boys into shape for her. This, then, is a bonus fic written for her that does not factor into her winnings from the help_haiti auction, but rather is both teaser and apology as other characters continue to drag their heels and refuse to behave for me on paper.

(The force of the blow shuddered up Sharpe's arm, his fist still curled into itself...)

Notes: Written for the seans_50 January Film Challenge using Sharpe's Regiment as inspiration. Also written for the "Conspiracy" challenge prompt (#11) at sharpe_thinking and for helena_s_renn, as an extremely late Halloween treat I owe her for "knocking" on my virtual!door, er, in 2008. D'oh!

Title: "Night Terrors"
Rating: 12
Characters: Wellington, Campbell
Summary: The Night after Assaye.
Author's Note: Based on a real episode, which I have embellished with a little gratuitous horror. For the look_sharpe prompts table; Prompt #25 "Narrow Escape". Halfway through. Sorry if this seems a little scraggy or non-sensical; I'm not used to this genre.

“I acknowledge that I should not like to see again such loss as I sustained on
the 23rd September, even if attended by such a gain.”
– Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (on the Battle of Assaye).

Archive: Lothlorien and sons_of_gondor.
Feedback: Always appreciated.
Disclaimer: I may march over the hills and far away alongside Richard Sharpe, but Bernard Cornwell, the lucky, lucky man, owns the rogue, not me.
Summary: As Sharpe is lost to his wounds and fever, Harper resolves to make a sword worthy of his Captain.
Notes: Written for the seans_50 May Film Challenge. I chose to go with Sharpe's Sword as inspiration, since it's been far too long since I wrote about the boys on campaign. Predictably, I'm late to the party, and sliding in at the last minute, so we'll see if this even makes the May deadline cut-off. *crosses fingers* (ETA: It did!) Many thanks to savageseraph for the fantastic beta, and the title itself.
